Almost Famous

It’s all happening…. San Diego, 1973. Led Zeppelin is king, Richard Nixon is President, and idealistic 15-year-old William Miller is an aspiring music journalist. When Rolling Stone magazine hires him to go on the road with an up-and-coming band, William is thrust into the rock-and-roll circus, where his love of music, his longing for friendship, and his integrity as a writer collide. Almost Famous, written by Academy Award® winner Cameron Crowe and based on his iconic film, is about a young man finding his place in the world and the indelible characters he meets along the way.

Directed by Tony Award® nominee Jeremy Herrin, and featuring an epic mix of classic hits and entirely original music by Pulitzer Prize® and two-time Tony Award® winner Tom Kitt, Almost Famous had a wildly-acclaimed, sold-out, and extended-by-popular-demand world premiere in 2019 at the Old Globe Theatre in Crowe’s native San Diego. Now the tour bus is headed for Broadway.

Performances begin at the Jacobs Theatre on October 3, 2022, and Almost Famous opens on Broadway on November 3, 2022.

"Destined to conquer Broadway! Cameron Crowe's coming-of-age rock tale burns bright. Shimmering and mesmerizing, it's an entrancing tapestry of sound. The chaotic, communal spirit of '70s rock distilled in a musical."

— Charles McNulty, Los Angeles Times

"A love letter to music! Cameron Crowe has made a career out of the extraordinary relationships he's forged with everyone from Pearl Jam to Joni Mitchell. ‘Almost Famous’ feels uniquely real. Which it is, because Crowe lived it, and perfected it by revisiting the memories countless times since."

— Shirley Halperin, Variety
